Found this community the other day. I am mom to two dogs, one of which is a GSD/Basenji mix. We snagged him in November 2006 from Oakland Animal Control.

He's a bundle of energy, acts very catish, and keeps us on our toes.

Now for the best part.. pictures! :D

I haven't posted in a very long time.

Some of you might remember me. I was Mom to Dinsdale the Beagle. Then Porter joined our pack. Porter is a basset hound. We lost Dinsy to Cancer and were very fortunate to have the chance to rescue a wonderful bulldog named Fuggles. Recently we lost our beloved Fuggles to (what we think was) a heart condition. There will never be another furry child like Fuggles.

To mend our broken hearts, we have rescued another beagle baby. Her name is Sheena and is a total Princess. She's only 18 months (or thereabouts) so she's still got quite the puppy spirit. She keeps us on our toes and we adore her. So does Porter! They play a great deal which pleases us to no end. Porter (grumpy old basset) has embraced his inner puppy!

Just did a mini-photoshoot this morning... and I couldn't wait to share!

Well, I took Ellie to the vet on Monday morning and they lanced the hematoma on her ear.  It was actually more "in" her ear than "on" her ear-- it was making her ear stand out rather than fold over like it usually does.  When I came home from work on Tuesday, it had started to fill again.  Apparently it may take two to four more times for it to heal.  It's in a bad spot for them to put in a drain, so if this doesn't work it'll be surgery on her little ear.  She's a trooper though.  She had her ear lanced, toes trimmed, glands expressed, vaccines (she had to have them so I could drop her off to be kept in the kennel all day) and a bath so this has been a not so good week for her.  She pretty much conked out on me-literally-when we got home Monday night.

Thanks for the advice everyone-- and I hope you, and your pets, have a fabulous 4th!

I just came home from a trip out of town to discover that my dog has a hematoma in her ear.  Has anyone else had this problem and how intense is the treatment going to be?
